Sam Whalley

AON

I’m delighted to be shortlisted for this award, whilst noone becomes an actuary for the glitz and glamour, being recognised by your peers is always rewarding!

I’m a PwC “lifer” having joined as a graduate in 2012, which is testament to the varied, challenging work I do on a day to day basis, but mostly due to the fantastic people I work with. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of various mentors, and developing others and allowing them to shine is something I am truly passionate about.

I specialise in Pensions Risk Transfer and as far as I am concerned, this is the place to be in pensions, not only working on interesting, complex projects, but most importantly improving the security of members’ pensions and ensuring that these are paid long into the future.

Outside of work, being in my 30s, I knew I needed to pick one of running or cycling as a hobby, and having chosen running, my next event is the Bath half marathon in March (thankfully not as hilly as you’d think!).
