Roisin McGuire

I am an actuary to several local government pension scheme (LGPS) funds with assets ranging between £500 million and £7.8 billion. My role includes advising on overall funding strategy, providing advice on risk sharing arrangements and advising on the treatment of pension liabilities when an employer leaves a fund. My aim is to breakdown complex situations and provide clear, pragmatic advice that truly adds value.

I have worked within the Public Sector Consulting team for much of my actuarial career and I truly enjoy working in this area, I have had the opportunity to build great relationships with many of my clients and others that work within the LGPS landscape. The LGPS never stands still and there are always new challenges for us and for our clients. While some may view DB pensions as coming to an end, the LGPS is very much the future and I look forward to working with my clients for years to come.

My role as People Lead for the Public Sector Consulting team within Barnett Waddingham is a key focus for me – I believe that as a team, our people are our greatest asset. It is a honour to have been shortlisted for this award and I’d like to think this reflects not only on the work I do but what our entire team have achieved, my role would not be possible without them.
