James Ockenden

An entrepreneurial actuary who’s goal is to consistently deliver excellence across all areas of personal lines insurance, especially in pricing. Starting my career at what is now Direct Line Group in 2004, I ran the Pricing Team at AXA Insurance not long after it acquired Swiftcover. Post qualification in 2011, I went on to join Sabre Insurance Ltd in 2013, where I later became the Chief Actuary and a director of the business, and was a part of the senior management team who took the Sabre to IPO on the London Stock Exchange in 2017. Previously a member of the ABI Motor Committee,  I set up Ockastic, my own consultancy practice in 2023 as my next career challenge. Outside of work I race prototype sports cars, finishing 3rd in the 2023  Radical championship, and a highlight being a podium finish after appearing live on ITV in a support race for the British Touring Car Championship.
