Donna Whelan

I graduated from Dublin City University with a degree in Actuarial Mathematics in 2014 and qualified as an actuary in 2017. I began my actuarial career at MetLife working in both reporting and model development roles. In 2019 I moved to a model development role at Irish Life where I am today. I’ve worked on a wide range of projects during my career but my main area of focus for the last number of years has been implementation of IFRS17 which was a long project with a variety of different challenges throughout.

I volunteered on the SAIs Recent Qualifiers Committee from 2018 to 2020 where I contributed to a number of different projects including the 2020 Current Topics Paper. I also volunteered as a board member of my local Credit Union from 2020 to 2022.

Outside of work I’ve spent most of the last year planning my wedding which took place in June and planning and decorating my new home. My golden retriever Sasha keeps me active, we go for long walks up in the Dublin mountains on the weekends.
