Craig Burns

I am a commercially minded actuary who is driven by making sure customers get the outcomes they deserve and that the insurance industry delivers wide reaching societal benefits. I joined the FCA in 2022 as the next step in my actuarial journey, following roles in consultancy, a large proprietary insurer, and a mutual life office.  These included leading on actuarial change across with-profits management, model validation and development, and capital management. My current role is a blend of the supervision of life insurers, supporting on wider strategy and policy, and the actuarial review of with-profits related developments and transfers of business across the life sector.

I’m based on Edinburgh and outside of work I enjoy spending time with my growing family- but I still like getting outdoors for hiking or kayaking when I can.
