I’m Alex (he/him) and I’m surprised and delighted to be nominated- thank you!

I graduated from Cambridge back in 2011 with a degree in Maths and, clearly loving the pain, decided to take another 14 exams (with one exemption) to qualify as an actuary

I’ve spent my whole career at Redington (now Gallagher), growing up with the firm and helping quintuple revenues. I’ve led the design (and redesign) of all our models, and worked on some great projects, especially CDC design. DB schemes are much healthier now (though still have tail risks, and I think too much in IG), but the pension space more broadly needs solutions like this to capture the longevity pooling that we miss out in DC.

For the last few years I’ve co-run the ALM team, and been far more involved in DEI initiatives, which are rapidly becoming even more important. I also write the Retirement Puzzle column in this magazine.

Outside of work, you can find me up in the air, performing with the circus
